Chirag Paswan started his career as an actor in Bollywood movies and made his debut in 2011 with the movie "Miley Naa Miley Hum." However, he soon shifted his focus to politics and joined his father's party, LJP.

Chirag Paswan was elected to the Lok Sabha from the Jamui constituency in Bihar in the 2014 general elections. He was re-elected in the 2019 elections and was appointed as the president of LJP. Under his leadership, the LJP contested the 2020 Bihar Assembly elections independently, breaking its alliance with the ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA).

The LJP performed poorly in the Bihar elections, winning only one seat out of the 143 seats it contested. However, Chirag Paswan managed to win his own parliamentary seat from Jamui. After the election, Chirag Paswan became embroiled in a bitter family feud with his uncle, Pashupati Kumar Paras, who was a member of the LJP.

Chirag Paswan's uncle, along with four other LJP MPs, formed a new faction of the party and aligned themselves with the NDA. This move weakened Chirag Paswan's position within the party, and he was subsequently removed from the post of party president.

Chirag Paswan died on October 4, 2021, due to a prolonged illness. His sudden death came as a shock to the political fraternity and his followers. He was 38 years old at the time of his death
