Nasa
NASA, or the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, is a United States government agency responsible for the nation's civilian space program and for aeronautics and aerospace research. NASA was established in 1958 by President Dwight D. Eisenhower in response to the Soviet Union's launch of the first artificial satellite, Sputnik.
NASA's mission is to drive advances in science, technology, aeronautics, and space exploration to enhance knowledge, education, innovation, economic vitality, and stewardship of Earth. NASA has accomplished numerous milestones in space exploration, including landing humans on the moon and sending robotic missions to explore the planets and other celestial bodies in our solar system.
NASA is also responsible for launching and maintaining numerous satellites and space telescopes that provide critical data for understanding Earth's climate, weather patterns, and other phenomena. The agency also conducts research on aeronautics to develop
fact about NASA:
NASA's Voyager 1 spacecraft, which was launched in 1977, is currently the most distant human-made object from Earth. As of May 2023, it is over 14.2 billion miles (22.8 billion kilometers) away from Earth and has crossed into interstellar space, beyond the influence of our Sun's solar wind. Voyager 1 continues to send back scientific data and is expected to remain in contact with Earth until around 2025, after which its power source is expected to run out.
